THE FORMATION OF THE COUNTY OF LONDON 1889
showing the Metropolitan Boroughs from 1900

NOTES
The orange section is the City of London, which has always been governed slightly differently and was not a Metropolitan Borough.
The thicker line, south of the Thames, denotes the original boundary between Surrey and Kent. All boroughs north of the river were originally part of Middlesex.
From 1889 until 1900 local administration was still governed by civil parishes.
